You can expect a company that thinks sustainably, where training is highly valued. Many of us completed our own training here and are still an important part of the Sport-Thieme team.
From day one, you’ll be actively involved as a team member in a 38.5-hour week with flexible working hours. In many training roles, you’ll have the opportunity to work independently at your own ergonomic workstation with your company laptop. In logistics, you’ll receive your own work materials and have the chance to earn a forklift license.
We offer training in a total of eight different roles. You can find out which of these eight roles are available in the current training year by checking our latest job postings, which are published around mid-August every year. Feel free to take a look and find the training role that suits you – we look forward to hearing from you!

Your benefits during the training
Training with us is more than just standard fare, because: We offer you a range of specific trainee benefits to make your time with us a truly memorable experience. See for yourself!
Trainee trip
The trainee trip is a great way to start your apprenticeship. Every August, all trainees and trainers travel to a different location. Team-building and leisure activities help our trainee crew bond quickly.
Skydiving
Looking for an adrenaline rush? At Sport-Thieme, you have the chance to take a voluntary tandem skydive from around 4,000 meters – an unforgettable experience!
Trainee sports
Every Thursday, trainees take part in 90 minutes of shared sports activities. You try out different sports and get to know our products better. Trainee sports count as paid working time.
Trainee meeting
Once a month, trainees meet with the training manager, Nadine, to practice presentations and showcase products or departments. Guest lectures from colleagues provide exciting insights on topics like AI, sustainability, and social media.
Trainee projects
In our trainee projects, you take responsibility for exciting initiatives. Previous projects included participation in the Aerie Festival and sustainability-focused activities.
Our wholesale and foreign trade trainees have the opportunity to complete a three-week international internship in Ireland through their vocational school. They live with a host family, work at a company, and immerse themselves in Irish daily life and culture.
The internship placements are individually arranged by an organization. In addition to improving English skills and gaining intercultural competencies, this experience also boosts self-confidence. There are numerous opportunities to interact with students from other countries, both at work and during leisure time. With a provided bus ticket, trainees can easily explore the region, and on free weekends, excursions offer a chance to discover the island independently.
It’s a rewarding experience that we highly recommend to all trainees!
Additional benefits
In addition to the benefits specifically offered to trainees, you will also enjoy the general benefits available to all employees. Sport-Thieme offers a wide range of benefits here as well: financial benefits (e.g. 13th salary), free health services (e.g. massage), events like the annual company parties, and much more…

Good to know: not every apprenticeship is offered every year. The roles available depend on current business needs and team capacity. The easiest way to stay up to date is to check our live job listings.
Until when can I apply?
There is no fixed application deadline. You can apply for an apprenticeship as long as the role is still advertised. Once all positions are filled, the listing will be removed.
Our tip: if you find an apprenticeship that suits you, apply as early as possible.
What happens after I apply?
After submitting your application, we review it carefully and get back to you as soon as possible. The selection process varies slightly depending on the role.
For commercial and marketing positions, the process usually starts with an initial video interview. If both sides are interested, you’ll complete an online assessment. If you’re successful, the final step is an in-person interview on site.
The IT application process is a bit different. After a video interview and online assessment, candidates who progress further are invited to complete a short trial workday on site.
For logistics roles, the process begins directly with an in-person interview combined with the assessment test. If both go well, you’ll also be invited for a short trial day before a final decision is made.
When does the apprenticeship start?
All apprenticeship programmes usually begin on 1 August each year.
How often do I attend vocational school and work in the company?
This depends on your year of training. During your first year, you’ll typically spend two days per week at vocational school and three days working with us. In your second and third years, this changes to one day at school and four days in the company.
Where is vocational school located?
This varies by apprenticeship. Logistics trainees attend school in Oschersleben. Wholesale and foreign trade apprentices are based in Helmstedt, while marketing and IT training takes place in Braunschweig.
What can I expect on my first day?
Your first day is designed to help you settle in smoothly. You’ll meet the other trainees, get an introduction to Sport‑Thieme, and receive all the key information you need — from daily processes and working hours to tools and points of contact.
You’ll also have time to explore the workplace and connect with your colleagues, including informal chats and shared breaks to help you feel at home quickly.
What is the atmosphere like among trainees?
Team spirit is a big priority at Sport‑Thieme. We regularly create opportunities for trainees to connect, exchange ideas, and grow together as a team.
Right at the start in August, we organise a trainee trip to help everyone get to know each other and build strong connections early on.
Day to day, collaboration continues through activities like trainee sports sessions, monthly meet‑ups, and casual shared lunches — helping to build an open, supportive environment and a strong sense of community from the very beginning.
