Key Milestones of Sport-Thieme:

• 1949: The company is founded by Karl-Heinz Thieme in Grasleben on a small attic as a “one-man show,” marking the beginning of Sport-Thieme’s success story.
• 1959: The company moves to its current headquarters at Helmstedter Straße 40. A year later, a workshop with carpentry, metalworking, and painting facilities is built, and the employees move in by 1963.
• 1979: Dr. Hans-Rudolf Thieme becomes actively involved in the company and introduces computer-based inventory management.
• 1990: The warehouse capacity is expanded to 12,000 m².
• 1992: With the help of a franchise partner, the first export catalog is released in Norway, followed by 13 additional partner countries in the years to come.
• 1993: Sport-Thieme launches the Sports Equipment Service (SGS), offering creation, revision, and maintenance of sports halls and equipment.
• 1996: The Sport-Thieme online store goes live.
• 2004: As a special customer service, Sport-Thieme introduces a 3-year warranty on all products.
• 2010: Sport-Thieme is recognized as one of the top 50 companies in Germany and awarded the title “Germany’s Customer Champion.”
• 2013: From this year, the main catalogs are produced in a climate-neutral way.
• 2014: Katharina Thieme-Hohe and Maximilian Hohe take over the management of the company.
• 2016: Sport-Thieme opens a consulting office in Leipzig.
• 2017: Two new consulting teams are established in Hamburg and Frankfurt am Main, and the new, sustainable administrative building of the company’s headquarters in Grasleben is inaugurated.
• 2018: The Sport-Thieme Academy embarks on a major tour across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, with Sport-Thieme experts sharing their knowledge with trainers, teachers, and physiotherapists.
