Freefall for Sport-Thieme Trainees

Anticipation for what’s to come

The day couldn’t have started better: At 9 AM, we were greeted with some sleepy faces. But the bright sunshine and excitement about what was about to happen soon brought a smile to even the biggest morning grump.

Freefall from 2,500 meters

Before heading up, the trainees received a briefing on how to position themselves during freefall and landing. Shortly after, the brave jumpers boarded the plane, ready to exit at 4,000 meters. No one was jumping solo; each trainee was paired with an experienced tandem master. After 2,500 meters of freefall, the tandem master literally pulled the ripcord. The last 1,500 meters were a bit slower, but no less spectacular. With a beautiful view, a few twists were added, and our trainees even had the chance to take the controls for a short time.

A Wonderful Experience for Trainees and Alumni

This year, 20 jumpers took the leap, including former trainees who hadn’t had the chance to experience this due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, they were finally able to make up for it and add one last memorable moment to their training.

The rest of the day was spent with friends and family, enjoying sunshine, delicious sandwiches, and cold drinks. From the wide grins, it was easy to tell who had already jumped and who was still looking forward to this special experience.
