SDG-Scouts - Sport-Thieme

Trainees become SDG scouts

SDG-Scouts Workshop - Sport-Thieme

With the support and guidance of B.A.U.M. e.V., we participated in workshops and project phases, training to become SDG scouts.

Last autumn, we attended a workshop in Bad Bodenteich, where we met trainees from other companies for the first time. After a brief introduction, we got started: first, we tackled the question of what the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) actually are. These SDGs cover various areas aimed at promoting long-term sustainability on a global scale. As individuals, we can contribute to these goals, but companies, of course, have a much greater impact.

During the first two workshops, we took a deep dive into how we could make a meaningful contribution. With this knowledge, we moved on to the first project phase, where we used an assessment tool to evaluate the current sustainability status at Sport-Thieme.

Following the initial workshops, we engaged in discussions with colleagues and other key contacts at Sport-Thieme. The assessment tool we received for the first project phase included company-specific questions about the 17 SDGs.

In this process, we identified exciting areas for improvement that we, as SDG scouts, aim to address in our future work.

Off to the practical phase!

After completing the first in-company project phase, B.A.U.M. e.V. invited us to another workshop. Here, we exchanged insights with other participants, learning about sustainability initiatives in other companies and identifying potential areas for improvement across businesses.

Our sustainability project

Armed with knowledge and hands-on experience, we moved on to the most important phase of our journey as SDG scouts: developing our own internal sustainability project.

We are currently in the final stages of our project, “Making shipping more sustainable,” and next week, we will present our ideas to company management and our trainers.

If you want to find out how our project to create a more sustainable shipping process at Sport-Thieme unfolds, stay tuned…
